Burke Olsen

Burke Olsen is publisher of Utah Business — the Beehive State’s premiere business news and events platform and Deseret News — Utah’s oldest news organization and longest running company.

Before he turned to the dark allure of journalism, his career was focused on the intersection of technology, content and marketing. His prior work spans organizations in the for-profit and not-for-profit sectors, including the Pew Research Center, the Salt Lake 2002 Olympic Winter Games, Southern Virginia University and two PR firms. He received a bachelor’s degree in communications from Brigham Young University and did graduate work at The Johns Hopkins University.

Burke is on the board of directors for the News Media Alliance — the largest trade association for newspaper and magazine publishers; he is an advisory board member for Utah Community Builders — the not-for-profit community impact foundation of the Salt Lake Chamber; and he is an advisory board member for Silicon Slopes.
